<p style="text-align: center;">Apparently Shepard Fairey stated that he did not know who the photographer of the Obama photograph was and that he found the image randomly online.</p>

<p>Last week I witnessed the passing of my beloved Epson 1280. Anyone who has logged hours with this iconic printer will lament with me in my loss. For the enthusiasts, I actually had the first generation model in tan and light gray plastic. This printer has been hailed by many in the Graphic design / Illustration field as a work horse that refuses to die. Mine served me well for almost ten years (even the technical service gurus at Epson were impressed).</p>
<p>I have recently learned that this is the only model Epson has made (with a sub $2000 price tag) that was designed to be able to print back light film transparencies.</p>
<p>My new Epson 1400 which was designed to fill the large shoes of the 1280, is still under close and suspicious assessment.</p>

<p>For those of you who attended the ISS Screen Printing convention in <span style="color: #008000;">Long Beach</span> this last weekend, and have survived to print another day, I salute you. Though there were noticeably less male pattern baldness pony tails in attendance than in years past, the rigid perspectives on technique and hard sells of bad technology were still in abundance.</p>
<p>With that being said, it was a successful venture for me as I was able to extract many useful nuggets of information regarding film production and ink color matching tips among others. I still consider this a must-attend event for anyone interested in printing. Unfortunately <a href="http://www.foundationpressscreenprinting.com/" target="_blank">FP’s</a> good friend Kyle Maligro of <a href="http://www.doxaprint.com/" target="_blank">Doxa Print</a> was unable to make it this year due to the great divide of the Pacific ocean. Maybe next year.</p>

<p>Andy White over at <a href="http://www.silentfilmrecords.com/" target="_blank">silent film records</a> recently turned me on to the latest <a href="http://www.boniver.org/" target="_blank">Bon Iver</a> record which was released almost a year ago now.</p>
<p>It’s a beautiful listen from beagining to end. The dry acoustic guitars and harmony ladden vocal layers dominate its sonic real estate.</p>
